About the project

A port authority in Western Australia undertook major port expansion works over several years following requirements for a substantial capacity upgrade. That included several major construction contracts for civil and marine infrastructure works. A requirement emerged to engage contract management expertise.

BDR role

BDR Projects was engaged to provide senior level contract management personnel and contract administration resources based onsite for civil and marine works. This included management of contract processes from tender through to contract close out.

BDR Projects was engaged by port authority-appointed lawyers to provide independent expert reports in respect of delay/extension of time/prolongation issues. That included forensic programme analysis, evaluation of claims, review of prolongation costs, and preparation of expert reports.

Further input included engagement with port authority lawyers in preparation for arbitration and engagement with claimant experts.

Outcomes

BDR Projects’ extensive construction industry and contract management experience assisted the port authority to achieve successful completion of port expansion works on schedule and within budget.

The expert input provided by BDR Projects through disputation processes helped to bring the matters to early favorable finalisation.
